Calendar Tricks To Get More Done Each Day

It seems everyone is doing everything online, including their calendar. In reality, we are each wired to be either right-brained or left-brained. Of course, many of these tips are great for your electronic calendars as well. Often we call this visual or analytical.

Those of us who are more visual tend to prefer a physical calendar to keep us on track. If you are like me, a more visual person, here are some calendar tricks to keep you on track and get more done each day!

Week In A Glance

A week at a glance calendar helps keep you on task each day and comes in various sizes. This will help you see what is ahead for the next 21 days... to-do's, calls, errands, meetings, and even hobbies.

A Place To Brain Dump

A calendar gives you a place where you dump and start scheduling all your to-do's that are needed to be done in the near future. Anything you say to yourself "I need to"... do, call, return, repair, start...

If it's something you want to work on months away, mark it on the first day of the month you want to do it on. Then you can schedule it conveniently in that month.

Use A Clip To Bookmark Your Place

Use a binder clip and clip it from the cover of your calendar or planner to the current week's page. This will also help securely keep any papers, bills, prescriptions, and grocery list in one place as well.

Organize Days Into Three Sections

Look at each day in three areas:

  • Tasks for the morning
    (Top area on the calendar)

  • Tasks for afternoon
    (Middle area on the calendar)

  • Tasks for the evening
    (Bottom area on the calendar)

I use a week at a glance calendar with lines to help break down my day.

By doing this, you'll be able to easily follow the flow of your day when you are scheduling. And, you can take into consideration when you work most efficiently to do things.

I tend to be more prepared to focus and concentrate in the morning. I'm more task oriented in the afternoon.

Use A Pencil

Use a pencil so you can easily erase and move things around when life changes and meetings get rescheduled.

Easy To Locate

Store your calendar/planner in one location at home or on the go so you always know where it is. Consider keeping it on your night stand in the evening, on your kitchen counter, desk, or purse during the day.

Create Routines Through Your Reminders

You may move it to another day, but you won't lose track of it. Keep up with a desired routine and actually have free time to relax.

When you put your to-do's and goals in writing and in one place, you actually have 90% chance of accomplishing it!

Give It 3 Weeks

It takes 21 days to create a habit. Focus on utilizing this tool to keep you on track and help you go to bed without worrying about forgetting something.
